Foxborough has signed a new electric supply contract with Direct Energy for the Foxborough Power Forward program that locks in prices for 24 months. Power Forward Standard will be 11.79 cents/kWh, and Power Forward Green will be 12.13 cents/kWh. Prices are effective October 2018, when the current contract expires, and will remain in effect until October 2020.
“We are pleased with the Foxborough Power Forward program so far,” said Foxborough Town Manager Bill Keegan. “In addition to stable prices and consumer protections, the program will have provided more than $1.2 million in savings to Foxborough residents and businesses by October, when the current electricity supply contract with Public Power ends. With this new contract, we continue our commitment to offering a consumer-friendly alternative to electricity supply offers in the marketplace, and we anticipate being able to shield customers from National Grid’s winter price swings.”
All active program participants will automatically be enrolled into the new contract, unless a participant chooses to opt out. The new prices will show up on November bills, and apply to all rate classes, including residential, commercial, and industrial accounts. Prices will impact the Supplier Services portion of electric bills.
It should be noted that during the course of the contract, National Grid’s Basic Service prices may at times, be lower than the program price, however, it is advisable to keep in mind that the program goal is to deliver savings when compared with the average of National Grid’s changing Basic Service prices. Savings cannot be guaranteed and program participants have the right to leave or opt out of the program at any time with no penalty. To opt out of the program, call Direct Energy at 1-866-968-8065 or go directly to www.masspowerchoice.com/foxborough.
The Foxborough Power Forward program is an electric aggregation, which is a form of group purchasing in which a town selects an electric supplier on behalf of its residents and businesses. The goal of the program is to provide cost savings, price stability, and strong consumer protections for Foxborough electric customers. The program has two options; Power Forward Standard, which is the default, and Power Forward Green, which offers 100% green electricity. The program provides a locally-vetted alternative to National Grid’s Basic Service and other supply offers in the marketplace.
