Re: Announcing the New Director of Public Health
The Town of Foxborough is pleased to announce that the new Director of Public Health is Matthew Brennan R.S., coming to us from the Town of Weymouth.
As the Assistant Director in Weymouth, Mr. Brennan has comprehensive experience with all matters regarding public health. Our new Director has overseen inspectional services, enforced and created Board of Health regulations, responded to emergency situations such as environmental spills or school facility emergencies, and assisted the local public health nurse with flu clinics and health fairs, among the list of proficiencies within the public health field that he has managed during his career.
He hold certifications as a Soil Evaluator, Food Manager, Lead Determinator, Incident Command Systems and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). He is the Norfolk County Regional Representative on the Massachusetts Health Officers Association Executive Committee, a position he was elected to by his peers within the Association.
Assistant Town Manager and Human Resources Director Michael Johns effusively endorsed Matthew, “Based on his extensive professional, relevant experience and how well he performed during the interview process, I am very confident in his knowledge, ability and skills to lead the Health Department and the Town. He comes to us very highly recommended from the Town of Weymouth. I am excited about his track record of innovation and collaborative interdepartmental work and how it will advance and enrich Foxborough public health.”
“I believe his calm and level-headed demeanor he conveyed during his interview will be an asset to the Town during the pandemic and beyond. He is determined to perform at a high level in this position and I’m looking forward to all of us working together” Public Health Nurse Tom Kenvin remarked.
Town Manager William Keegan believes “Matthew will be a wonderful addition to the Town’s team of extraordinary leaders we already have in Foxborough. We believe he will work seamlessly with the Board of Health, Health Department staff and with other Town departments to maintain the high level of service that this community has come to expect.” Keegan went on to say, “I would also like to thank Fire Chief Michael Kelleher and Deputy Chief Tom Kenvin for their interim assistance in supporting the Health Department during this transitional period for the Department.”
Foxborough’s new Director of Public Health will begin this month starting Monday, January 26th. At that time Fire Chief Michael Kelleher and Deputy Chief Tom Kenvin will be relieved of their interim duties as Interim Director of Public Health and Interim Department Manager respectively.
