CARES Act Grant Request

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - June 5, 2020

Re: Town of Foxborough CARES Act Grant Request
This morning the Town of Foxborough has submitted a $1 million dollar CARES Act Grant request to the State for COVID-19 emergency expenditure reimbursement. The Town’s CARES Act Grant request aims to cover COVID-19 related expenses for Foxborough Schools, Public Safety, Public Works and General Government to include technology learning subscriptions, teleworking/remote meeting software, PPE, Plexiglas shields, cleaning supplies and deep cleanings of buildings and vehicles. It remains to be seen if this entire request will be approved; much of what was submitted appears compliant with the guidance of the Grant.

The Town remains eligible for $500,000+ in additional Grant Aid that will be funded by the Federal Government for costs incurred after July 1, 2020. Negotiations are on-going in Congress for the potential of an additional aid package for States and Municipalities.  However, no agreement on that package has been reached at this time.

Marie Almodovar, Director of Accounting, worked cooperatively with Town and School Departments to pull all the information together, and coordinated the Grant request. Town Manager, William Keegan, expressed his gratitude for the collective effort of all involved and praised Ms. Almodovar for her assistance in submitting the request citing “It was no small task, and I am very grateful for Marie’s assistance and dedication to ensure this request was submitted in a timely manner.”

The Town will continue to post information as it becomes available on the progress of this significant request and future requests as it pertains to the CARES Act Grant.
