Notification of Water Ban in EffectTemporary Water Ban
Town of Foxborough Water Department is instituting a full water ban effective May 27, 2020. The ban will be in place until further notice.  The ban is required to maintain the level of the Hill St tank for adequate fire protection. A main break last week reduced our water available in storage by 1/3.  There is currently more water being used on daily basis then the system is able to pump out of the ground.  Additionally, the new treatment plant on Pumping Station Rd has faced construction delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  The new treatment plant will double our capacity to pull water out of the ground and put into the system.

As a condition of this ban we are implementing a 24-hour ban on non-essential outdoor water use.

MassDEP allowed outdoor water use:
reasons of health and safety;
the production of food, i.e. watering a garden by handheld hose only, and fiber
the maintenance of livestock;
those allowed by regulation;
establishment of a new lawn by handheld hose only between 6pm-9pm; and
the meeting of core functions of a business, including plant nurseries for the maintenance of stock, golf courses to maintain tees and greens only, and irrigation of public parks and recreation fields.

Uses that are not allowed by MassDEP:
irrigation of lawn;
filling of pools
washing of cars, other than by means of a commercial car wash, except as necessary for driver safety; and
washing of exterior buildings, parking lots, driveways and sidewalks, except to apply paint, preservatives, stucco, pavement or cement.

Thank you for your cooperation under these difficult circumstances.  The citizens of the Town of Foxborough have consistently understood the importance of working together as a community to help maintain our wells at a safe level.
